Established in 1984, R & I Construction has built itself a fine reputation and emerged as one of  the leading home builders in Kwa-Zulu Natal. The company boasts investments not only in plant and equipment but also in trained human resources as well. All these, together the company’s Mission to produce high quality buildings and total client satisfaction above all else, have driven R & I Construction cc all these years.

Based on the north coast of Durban, our growing portfolio of successfully delivered projects reflects the skills, capabilities and vast experience that we bring to every scheme we work on. The commercial and residential projects we deliver benefit from unparalleled expertise and a shared understanding that we enjoy with clients, professional partners, suppliers and other key members of the supply chain.

In 2009 we completed one of the largest high specced home’s in Kwa-Zulu Natal which has an estimated real estate value of Fifty Million Rands (R 50 000 000.00). This project coupled with quality of work has earned us 1st place in the Govan Mbeki Housing award for non subsidised home’s by the Department of Housing.

The company’s relentless pursuit of excellence together with its procurement capabilities have proven be cost effective and have provided an edge in maintaining our pricing at competitive levels.

Green-Energy-EnvironmentAt R & I Construction we are committed to fulfilling our social and environmental responsibilities, promoting sustainable development and minimising any potentially harmful effects of our business activities.

We consider good environmental practice as a important management task and will work continuously with our clients, designers and trade contractors at all levels to improve our overall environmental performance.

Through this action we will meet and if possible exceed the requirement of all applicable legislation and regulations.

When we are able and it is within our control Kingswood will specifically:-

  • Minimise the impact of its operations on the environment and reduce noise, dust, disturbance and inconvenience.
  • Make effective use of energy.
  • Reduce waste, promote recycling and the use of recyclable materials.
  • Ensure that all our management processes and operational procedures take full account of this policy and minimise pollution.

Support and training are given to all staff of R & I Construction  to ensure that they are able to fulfil their commitments and apply those sections of the policy that relate to their activities.

The Directors have overall responsibility for establishing and publishing the company’s environmental policy, and for regular review of environmental activities and performance.

Our Approach on Quality

Quality has been our foundation for growth and development since the company was formed in 2004. Our goal is to achieve the highest quality possible on all projects we undertake. This is realised through a culture of total commitment to meet or exceed the specified standards. Our internal systems enable us to monitor performance during all phases of the works through to project completion.

We review and challenge our quality systems continuously to ensure they remain in line with organisational and environmental changes whilst maintaining the highest levels of performance at all times.

Our commitment to quality is reinforced throughout the company and constantly promoted by the senior management.

  • Completed O&M Manuals issued at handover with draft test certificates

Health & Safety

safetyIn accordance with its duty under  the Health and Safety Regulations Work Act, and in fulfilling its obligations to our employees, general public and the environment, which may be affected by our activities, the Directors of R & I Construction cc have produced the following statement of policy in respect of health & safety and the environment.

It is our aim to achieve a working environment that is free of work related accidents and ill health and to this end we will pursue continuing improvements from year to year. We undertake to discharge our statutory duties by:

  • Identifying hazards in the workplace, assessing the risks related to them and implementing appropriate preventative and protective measures
  • Providing and maintaining safe plant and work equipment
  • Establishing and enforcing safe methods of work
  • Recruiting and appointing personnel who have the skills, abilities and competence commensurate with their role and level of responsibility
  • Ensuring that tasks given to employees are within their skills, knowledge and ability to perform
  • Ensuring that technical competence is maintained through the provision of refresher training as appropriate
  • Promoting awareness of health and safety and good practice through the effective communication or relevant information
  • Furnishing sufficient funds needed to meet these objectives

All employees on their part are encouraged to contribute actively towards achieving a work environment, which is free of accidents and ill health.

Our health and safety policy is reviewed annually to monitor its effectiveness and to ensure that it reflects changing needs and circumstances.
